1. BACKGROUND
Language is a tool of communication. English
is a second language in Indonesia. However, many people are still having lack
of interest in learning English. Learning through media can be a solution to
increase people’s interest in learning English. The media that can be used are
film, books, radio, games, etc. There is no limitations for learning English.
Facebook is one of the biggest social media
in the internet with billion users. In 2013, the guardian reported 1,230
million users use facebook in worldwide. While in Indonesia, there are 50.3
million active users. This social media has many features to help people
socialize. Nowadays, facebook is more than social tool, it provides games to
entertain their users.
Games is an audiovisual media in learning
English. This means, games
which is provided in computer is a language learning media that can build
students’ critical understanding.
However, games are still not widely used in
Indonesia as a tool to learn English although many people, especially teenager
are active game player. Moreover, games can be used as a media to increase the
interests’ of learning English.
Based on the statement above,
this study is going to design a tool to learn English in interesting way, where
students are expected to be able to learn while socializing in social media.
